I have not ever blogged about it the way I do American Idol/ SYTYCD/ RuPaul’s Drag Race. I’m not sure why. Probably because I know a whole lot of nothing about fashion. (Not that I know sh*t about singing, dancing, or being a drag queen!)
I do have opinions, though. And my opinion so far, 28 minutes into the first episode?
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! This “come as you are” thing is GENIUS! Make ‘em show us what they got right from the get go; drag ‘em out of bed and task them with creating a garment from their pajamas.
I painted the exploding TARDIS onto a black fitted t-shirt and I’m really f——-g pleased on how it turned out.

I just left this comment on the original video, and I wanted to share it here as well:
Ugh. I just rolled my eyes so hard I got a headache. Thank GOD I don’t buy into this kind of hate anymore. I will wear what I want, when I want. My body, my choices. If someone doesn’t think I look “good,” someone can avert their gaze.
Fat, skinny, dark skin, light skin, old, young, clear skin, acne: EVERYONE deserves to be happy and feel beautiful. If hot pants do that for you, props. If a peasant skirt and long sleeves do that for you, props. If you FEEL pretty, THAT is all that matters.
Don’t listen to her, ladies and gents (and everyone in between.)
You do you, I’ll do me, and one day people like her will learn to keep their opinions to themselves.

So I wrote back: You’re entitled to your opinion. You’re -not- entitled to casting that negative opinion onto complete strangers, especially when that opinion does harm. Hatred (intense dislike or ill will) is -exactly- what you’re spewing here. By saying certain people shouldn’t do certain things, you are oppressing them. If there’s a bigger form of hatred than oppression I haven’t encountered it yet.

Look “ladies” posting and commenting on this: leggings may not be pants, but it’s also not your place to police what other people put on their bodies.
Be grateful they’re wearing anything at all. Apparently if some woman hadn’t eaten some fruit some 38291024354354338109 years ago we’d all be trotting around in our birthday suits.
